The Door County Maritime Museum, located on the Sturgeon Bay waterfront, has a number of interactive exhibits the whole family will enjoy. The museum also hosts a restored tugboat and the Jim Kress Maritime Lighthouse tower.
Potawatomi State Park covers over 1,200 acres along the shores of Sturgeon Bay. The park has a number of hiking trails, which can also be used for mountain biking and cross-country skiing. Shorelind along Green Bay allows you to enjoy a variety of watersports.
Sturgeon Bay is an excellent place to enjoy a day of successful fishing. The bay has large populations of smallmouth bass,northern pike, walleye, and musky. If you're not familar with fishing Sturgeon Bay, consider hiring one of area's excellent guide services.
Door County has three unique lighthouses on Sturgeon Bay: Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal Light Tower, Sherwood Point Lighthouse, and Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal North Pierhead Light. All are relatively close to The Prospect House, and all are definitely worth visiting.
